“Our pharmacy had placed job ads on Seek and Indeed, and wanted a larger outreach for potential local candidates. We also wanted to support local business and connected with Global Skills.”

When Pharmacy Manager Louis asked Tara at Global Skills for help to find a new employee he had a list of skills needed for the position at Optimal Pharmacy+, Wyong. He also emphasised the importance of finding someone local with the right attitude and personality fit. Tara had just the candidate in mind.

Tara thought of Madalen, 23, a Global Skills Transition to Work (TtW) Lake Haven job seeker and a member of our Youth Advisory Group. The group had met late in 2022 at Global Skills Wyong to discuss issues facing young people on the Coast and help Global Skills formulate an action plan to improve its services to young people. In addition to having the attitude and personality to suit the employer and the position, Madalen also has some experience working in customer service.

Madalen was provided support to prepare for the interview. Our team, including her Employment Consultant Jess, worked closely with Madalen to help her highlight the strengths that made her a perfect fit for the role.

We are pleased to say that after a successful interview process, Madalen was offered employment. Madalen Started work at Optimal Pharmacy+ on 18 January and both the employer and candidate are extremely happy with the outcome.
