Emma's Story: Having Permanent Work Has Changed My Life

“Having permanent work has changed my life. Going to work has helped ease my anxiety. I’m no longer a hermit crab, wanting to stay home all the time. It has definitely helped my financial situation too. I’ve got a house now, a two-bedroom unit.”

Emma, 27, joined Global Skills The Entrance in September 2022. She remembers meeting Employment Consultant Melissa Becroft for the first time, “Mel helped me a lot that day and has continued to offer support. During my second appointment, she referred me to a Hospitality Industry Exposure Day at the Crowne Plaza Terrigal Pacific. I attended on the morning of 16 November. They rang me later that same day and offered me a permanent housekeeping job. It was literally the same day that I went in.”

Global Skills TtW Performance Manager Chloe Butler was also in attendance that day. She was there to support all job seekers participating in the industry exposure day with a view to completing a 5 day pre-employment program. Chloe remembers, “Emma was very open about the support she required on the day which really helped us work alongside her. She applied for the program because she wanted to gain a Housekeeping role. She knew it would suit her needs perfectly. Recruiters from the Crowne Plaza agreed that a Housekeeping role would be right for Emma and, keen to support her needs, they offered her a permanent job with no need to complete the pre-employment program.”

Emma says, “The support I have received from both Global Skills and Crowne Plaza has been incredible. Having permanent work really has changed my life.”

Congratulations Emma, we look forward to supporting you as you settle into work.

A big thank you Crown Plaza Terrigal Pacific for your tailored support.
