Did you know the Global Skills team is made up of more than 155 staff?
We are incredibly proud of our diverse team of values-aligned people and invite you to meet them in our Take 5 series.
This week, we took 5 minutes out of Employment Consultant Adriana Musumeci’s busy day and asked her a few questions to help you get to know her.
Adriana is a much-valued part of our Global Skills Liverpool team.
Q. What do you do at Global Skills?
A. I am an Employment Consultant. I help people locate and sustain employment suited to them. I support job seekers overcome challenges they may have so they are in the right position to sustain employment for the long-term.
Q. What do you enjoy about the work you do?
A. Genuinely just being able to help people. I always say this isn’t just a job for me. I believe you can’t just clock in and clock out, you really have to be passionate about the role you’re doing. I really want the best for people. For all my job seekers, the end goal is always employment. I always say we start at A and employment is Z. I work with my job seekers all the way to get from A to Z and I really enjoy working with them. I often look back to when I first started working with a job seeker and think, ‘Wow we’ve come so far.’ It’s so rewarding when you see job seekers overcome challenges, meet their own goals and gain employment.
Q. What did you want to be when you grew up?
A. I wanted to be everything. At one point I wanted to be a marine biologist, purely because I was obsessed with H2O. I wanted to be an actor and make-up artist among other things. I grew up, got into support work and now I’m here.
Q. What do you think are the best skills that you bring to your job?
A. I come from a background of customer service, disability and mental health support roles. I have really good people skills. I’ve worked very closely with people who need a high level of support so this has given me the skills to build rapport and relationships.
Q. What have you learnt in previous jobs and your past experience that helps you in your current job?
A. One thing I’ve learnt is everyone’s journey in life is different and that doesn’t have to define what happens in the future. Many people haven’t been afforded the same support or opportunities as others. It’s important that we work hard to create new support, work and skills opportunities to ensure their journey is a successful one.
Q. Best thing about being part of the Global Skills Team?
A. Oh wow, there’s so many things. We have such an incredible team. We have really strong community here, a really strong environment. There is a lot of support and we genuinely have a great time at work. There is always incredible support from Management too. It’s nice knowing I can just get on the phone if I need a bit of support or if I would like to access specific training, it can happen. It’s also nice to be recognised for the little things you do every day. No one’s work goes unseen.
