Congratulations Amelia!

Congratulations to Amelia, a Global Skills Transition to Work participant, for successfully completing the ‘Building the Future’ program, facilitated by CCGT (Central Coast Group Training) and CTQ (Construction Trade Qualifications). This program is part of a broader initiative with Workforce Australia, Bara Barang and the NSW Government, designed to equip First Nations women with the skills to pursue a career in construction.

Amelia, 18, from the Central Coast, has always had a passion for hands-on work, building, and design. Growing up in a community that values cultural heritage and connection to the land, she saw this program as a chance to combine her interests with her cultural identity.

Throughout the 4-week program, Amelia gained essential knowledge and practical construction skills, providing a solid foundation for her career in the industry. She has now secured a work placement with the Central Coast Council, which will give her the opportunity to gain further experience and potentially start an apprenticeship. Amelia is excited to contribute to her community and inspire other young women to explore careers in trades.

Global Skills Employment Consultant Hayley, who attended the graduation, said, “I felt incredibly privileged to be part of the First Nations Construction Graduation. It was more than just a ceremony; it was an inspiring tour filled with meaningful stories and the chance to meet the people behind the organisations that support these young women. Amelia’s success highlights the importance of these programs in shaping futures. I’m proud of Amelia and can’t wait to see where this opportunity takes her.”
