Spinal Cord Injury Awareness Week 2024

Spinal Cord Injury Awareness Week (SCIAW), 2-8 September, aims to raise awareness about spinal cord injury and advance the rights, choices and entitlements of people living with spinal cord injury.

Spinal Cord Injuries Australia (SCIA) says, “Spinal Cord Injury Awareness Week 2024 is all about strength. If you’ve been watching the Paris Paralympic Games it’s clear that there is empowerment through physical strength, however there is so much more. There is strength in advocacy, independence, resilience and community.”

When celebrating strength in independence, Global Skills recognises the power of employment in helping people with disability achieve their full potential. If you are living with a spinal cord injury, other disability, injury or illness, Global Skills Disability Employment Services (DES) can help you find work and provide access to any adaptive technologies and equipment you may need to not only enter/re-enter the workforce but to succeed.

The support we offer is tailored to your needs including the provision of adaptive equipment such as specialised computer software, voice recognition tools, ergonomic workstations and mobility aids to ensure you have the necessary tools to regain workplace independence and effectively contribute your talents to the workforce.
