The Safer Communities Grant, funded by the Department of Industry, Science, Energy and Resources, has enabled the Mount Druitt Ethnic Communities Agency (MECA) and its partners to commence a new Youth Mentoring Program. Global Skills is proud to partner with MECA, as their employment service partner, to deliver the Program at Chifley College Bidwill Campus.

The program involves providing youth mentors, along with private and community partners to assist students develop and gain skills for a successful future. The program includes workshops, incursions and excursions covering themes of employment, mental health, education and building positive relationships in the community and broader society.

Global Skills will present a number of sessions on job search and employment skills over the next year. Global Skills Youth Hub Co-ordinator and Performance Manager, Victoria Wellard stated, “Maddison Ryan, Global Skills Employment Consultant and myself have had the honour of delivering two exciting sessions to the students so far. The first focused on resumes and the second on job interviews. During the sessions, each student has been supported to create a tailored resume. For many students it’s their first resume. The students were actively involved, keen to learn about employer expectations at interviews and how to maximise their chances of job offers when the time comes.”
