Mariana has 14 years’ experience within the Employment Services sector and is a much-valued part of our Global Skills Bankstown team.
Q. What do you do at Global Skills?
A. My role includes supporting our job seekers in their search for the job that is right for them. This includes connecting our job seekers to employers or education and training to help them broaden their skills. As a Senior Consultant, I also support my team and my manager.
Q. What do you enjoy about the work you do?
A. To see job seekers gaining confidence, heading towards their employment goals and then getting a job, is just so rewarding.
Q. What did you want to be when you grew up?
A. When I was younger, I wanted to be a pharmacist but then I realised I wanted a job where I could help people. Working with people is much more suited to my personality.
Q. What’s a typical work day like for you?
A. Supporting my job seekers with whatever they need to reach their employment goals. A typical day may include supporting my job seekers into work, supporting them with work clothes, tickets, anything that will help them when they are starting a new job.
Q. What do you think are the best skills that you bring to your job?
A. My people skills, I am great at supporting our job seekers and also supporting my colleagues.
Q. What have you learnt in previous jobs and your past experience that helps you in your current job?
A. We all have our ups and downs in life, that’s what makes us human. I think it’s important that we all support each other.
Q. Best thing about being part of the Global Skills Team?
A. Global Skills is a very healthy work environment. All our managers, my colleagues, everyone is supportive and positive.
