World Mental Health Day 2022

Today, 10 October, is World Mental Health Day.

In reference to the 2022 theme, ‘Make mental health for all a global priority’, the World Health Organisation states, “The ability to reconnect through World Mental Health Day 2022 provides us all an opportunity to re-kindle our efforts to protect and improve mental health. We must deepen the value and commitment we give to mental health as individuals, communities and governments and match that value with more commitment, engagement and investment by all stakeholders, across all sectors. We must strengthen mental health care so that the full spectrum of mental health needs is met through a community-based network of accessible, affordable and quality services and supports”.

Global Skills has various programs in place to ensure our job seekers and staff have access to free and confidential mental health services at all times.

Our GS Plus telehealth service, in partnership with Uniting NSW/ACT, provides our job seekers with quick and free access to a range of qualified allied health professionals, including registered psychologists, via phone or video.

Today, to support and reflect the World Health Mental Health Day theme, Global Skills invited Ashlynn from Awaken Health Wellness Yoga to deliver a company-wide 30 min mindfulness session for all staff. Last year, Ashlynn supported our staff with weekly mindfulness and stretch sessions throughout our working from home COVID-19 lockdown period.

As green is the colour of mental health representing hope, strength and support, all Global Skills staff were also encouraged to wear green.
